Bank Of Ireland suffers online banking outage

The bank has not yet said what is causing the difficulty for users who are trying, and failing, to log in using the bank’s apps and websites

Bank Of Ireland suffered an online banking outage at lunchtime on Thursday.

Attempts to log in to its online banking apps and websites were met by error messages.

Dozens of customers have taken to social media to complain about the outage, which is affecting login attempts on all platforms.

“We are aware that customers are experiencing an issue logging into desktop and mobile banking,” the bank said in a statement.

"We are working to fix this as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

In a further statement, the bank added its apps were also affected.

Bank Of Ireland has had a number of IT problems and glitches over the last two years, culminating in a rebuke and a fine from the Central Bank.
