Government wants public's view on future enterprise policy

The Government is asking members of the public, industry, academia and all interested parties for their views on Ireland's future enterprise policy.

A public consultation opens today via the website of the Department of Enterprise.

An Enterprise Policy White Paper will be published by the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment by the end of the year setting out a new vision for Ireland's enterprise policy.

Leo Varadkar said that while the current strategy had been a success with record employment, higher incomes and strong public finances it was not a time for self-praise or to rest on our laurels.

"Our economic strength is particularly impressive given the headwinds we have faced in recent years, with Brexit and the pandemic," he said.

"Climate change, inflation, Putin’s war on Ukraine, the shift in global economic and political power, increased global competition and the digital transformation are the next set of formidable challenges that we are now facing," Mr Varadkar said.

"I think it’s timely to take a look at our enterprise policy and make sure it is fit for purpose," he added.
