Iput to expand logistics park near Dublin Airport

The Irish property investor and developer Iput has secured planning permission to deliver an additional 12 units at Nexus Logistics Park.

Planning for an initial 800,000 sq ft at Nexus Logistics Park was granted last year.

Following the addition of these new units, which are expected to span 1.7 million sq ft, Iput now has permission to build a total of 2.5 million sq ft across 17 buildings at the site.

Nexus Logistics Park is located at the Cherryhound Interchange of the M2 motorway, close to Dublin Airport, as well as the M50 motorway.

Unit sizes at the site are expected to range from 50,000 sq ft to 475,000 sq ft.

Each unit can be constructed with a glue-laminated timber frame, while the buildings are expected to have roof-mounted solar panels, LED lighting and rainwater harvesting systems.

Iput says it also plans to invest in sports facilities, running tracks, cycle paths and outdoor gym facilities, as well as in art and cultural installations, at Nexus Logistics Park.

CBRE and Harvey have been appointed as joint letting agents of the development.

“Our ambition is for Nexus to be one of the most sustainable logistics parks in Europe,” Iput’s chief investment officer Michael Clarke said.

Iput’s current existing logistics portfolio comprises 32 buildings spanning 3.2 million sq ft. This includes the recent completion of Quantum Logistics Park, also in Dublin. Iput says Quantum’s four units have been let to Maersk, DHL and Harvey Norman.

Iput is predicting that its logistics portfolio will increase to almost 6 million sq ft upon the completion of Nexus Logistics Park.

“Following the successful delivery of Quantum Logistics Park, which includes Ireland’s first net-zero logistics building, our investment in Nexus supports a greener economy while providing amenities that serve both our occupiers and the local community,” Mr Clarke added.

Iput owns a total of 75 properties. About two-thirds of its portfolio are office buildings, while the logistics portfolio comprises almost one fifth of the total. Almost all of the group’s properties are located in Dublin.
